With holidays just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about what cake designs you’ll be whipping up for Christmas.
Call me a Christmas grinch - or perhaps it's the designer in me - but I’m tired of seeing the same-old repetitive red and green colour scheme each Christmas. It can be overkill.
The simple colour pairing is easily overused and quickly becomes monotonous (not to mention it’s getting a little outdated after all these years...).
Dare I say it, but I think it’s time to create a new, fresh twist on the classic holiday colours.
Who’s with me?!
Keeping your Christmas cake colours fresh and modern? Immediately elevates your cake work. It identifies you as a trend setter, a forward thinker and sets you apart from other cake decorators.
Plus, it’s fun to let loose and experiment with unusual colour pairings for something totally different that’ll catch people’s eye.
I get it though...straying away from the traditional red-green colour scheme can be reeaallllyy daunting - I mean, it feels like you’re committing a deadly sin. You’re changing Christmas colour tradition, so the pressure is ON to get the new colour scheme right.
If you’re not confident with picking or using colours, this is when panic and self doubt starts to creep in...‘Do these colours even match together?? Does this feel Christmassy enough? Does it look odd if I use orange??’
And ultimately? You just kind of give up, because it’s easier and less stressful. You think to yourself, ‘using different colours was a nice idea, but I’m not cut out for this,’ and you revert back to using the safe, tried-and-tested, traditional colour scheme you were hoping to steer away from.
But that ain’t gonna happen this year.
No need to 'umm' and 'uhhh' or 'get stuck' over colour choices - no siree. I've taken away the stress and done the hard work for you (don't worry, you can thank me later).
